The Spirit which moves us
Lord,
What is this fire
Which at times
Warms my whole being?
What is this strange fervour
Which forces me
To surpass myself?
Why did I smile
To one who had caused me pain?
Why
This sudden will to forgive
And to render good for evil?
Lord,
I know well,
It is the warm, ardent, burning,
Dynamic, and pacifying breath of your Spirit!
Lord,
Oh! when
shall we allow the breath of your Spirit
To sweep away our apathy and half-heartedness?
Lord,
May your Spirit be
Fire to purify us,
Light to guide us,
Strength to struggle,
Patience to suffer,
Dynamism to act,
And peace to listen to you.
May your Spirit lead us
On the path that pleases you
To The One who awaits us.
