Thought of the week
You are my God,
teach me to do your will.
- St. Francis of Assisi
You are here: Home / Prayer Friends / Prayers / Venerable Mother Saint-Joseph
Lord, in each human life
There lies a mystery,
The coming together of your call
And the response given to it by the one you call.
Your ways are not our ways.
Is that not what we discover
In the life of your servant Elisabeth Bergeron?
Her journey through life followed paths
Which did not seem to lead clearly where you awaited her,
You who knew so well her humility, her piety
And her ardent wish to respond generously to your will.
In her own way, in spite of obstacles,
With perseverance, she remained receptive.
In the midst of her many attempts to realize her ideal,
One day, she heard a call from her bishop
Who, relying only on divine Providence,
Invited her, in spite of her limited education,
To found a religious congregation
Destined to teaching the poor.
Ever since, the names
Of Blessed Bishop Louis Zéphirin Moreau
And Venerable Mother Saint Joseph
Are united in the memory of those
Who owe to their spiritual daughters, their life orientation
As priests, religious, missionaries,
And lay persons committed to serving the Church and society.
Lord, we are happy for the title of Venerable
Bestowed on your humble servant Elisabeth
One of our own.
Our wish would be fulfilled if the Church declared her Blessed.
Such is our hope, we entrust it to you.
Amen.
