To the Child Jesus

Lord Jesus, you became a wee babe to come to us.
You became very weak to be close to us in our miseries.
You became very poor to love us better.
We thank you for having come among us, in such a simple way.
For, if you had come to us as rich, great, powerful,
we would have had difficulty in recognizing you
and we would not have felt at ease with you.
And, moreover, we might have thought that you had come to ask for
or to take away the little we had or were.
Now, however, we are sure that you are with us,
that you are among us and that you are like us.
