The Tree of Hope

“The Tree of Hope” is the name given to the oak tree planted in front of the Mother House during the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the congregation.

The gesture brought to a close the Session R”, a session of Resource, Revitalization and Renewal attended by twenty-six of the youngest Sisters of the congregation in July 2002.

Here is the creed which they formulated at the close of the experience:

CREED OF THE YOUNG SJSH

We believe that the Kingdom of God is for the people of all nations, all beliefs and all cultures.
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

We believe in our passion for Jesus who was impassioned for humanity, and that our passion is deeply rooted in our enthusiastic encounter with HIM;
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

We believe, that in the footsteps of Bishop Moreau and Mother Saint Joseph, we are called to
- refuse easy paths
- open new ones
so that, like them, we may allow ourselves to be touched by the cries of our contemporaries.
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

We believe that the witnessing of consecrated persons has the power to question current culture, and to awaken the enthusiasm of young people.
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

We believe in community life whereby we are called to be specialists of communion and a provoking reminder of fraternity.
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

We believe,
- that every time we draw close to the voiceless, the little ones and the unloved;
- that every time we join them in their commitment for more dignity; we reveal a God who is close to every human being.
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

We believe in a religious life that is incarnated in the different realities of our world and whose members are committed alongside the most impoverished.
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE

YES, we believe that all these elements are signs of REFOUNDING and this is why we proclaim :
THERE IS HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE.
