Saint Hyacinthe (Brébeuf Street)

1973-1980

BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT
Ten sisters set up a project whereby a number of them would be living among the labour class. They presented the project to the general chapter in 1972. The project was accepted and four sisters first moved into one of six apartments in a block located on Bourdages Street. This apartment proved to be too small and so in May 1973, they moved to Brébeuf Street.

DEPARTURE
After seven years of shared community life, the group separated to take on new projects. Since Sister Louise Bibeau and Sister Jeanne Paradis wanted to focus their energy on the centre for the mentally disabled, on June 27, 1980, they moved to Papineau Street where the centre was located.
