Saint Antoine

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

The parish of St. Antoine is situated along the shore of the Richelieu River. It neighbour towns are: St. Marc, Calixa Lavallée (formerly St. Theodosie), Contrecoeur and St. Roch.

FOUNDERS
On August 26, 1880, 4 sisters moved into a house in the parish.
Sister St. Hyacinthe, superior (Victorine St. Jacques)
Sister St. François d'Assise (Rose-de-Lima Dansereau)
Sister du Sacré Coeur (Alphonsine Perron)
Sister Therese de Jesus (Adélina Plante)
Sister de l'Immaculee Conception (Émérante Trudeau) joined them on September 18.

BOARDERS
On September 1880, 30 boys and girls arrived as boarders.

DEPARTURE
Over the years the school went through many changes, additions, and renovations. In 1979, the Sisters of St. Joseph left for good.
