Saint Catherine d'Alexandrie

1941-1970



GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

This parish is located between the town of Laprairie and the Caughnawaga Indian Reserve.

FOUNDING
In May 1941, Father Joseph-Georges Lachapelle, S.J., presented his project, welcoming Sisters of Saint Joseph to his parish, to Mother St. Jean Berchmans (Blanche Meunier), superior general, who promised the school board would get the sisters they hoped for.

DEPARTURE
On April 2, 1970, two members of the general council visited the parish priest and the school board to notify them that the sisters would be withdrawing the following June.
