Saint Joseph de Sorel (Bishop Moreau Normal School)

1959-1966

FOUNDING

On April 24, 1957, a request was made to the Superintendent of Public Education to found a normal school for the Sorel students who wanted to get a "B" or "C" class teaching diploma. The request stated that Bishop Arthur Douville of St. Hyacinthe approved the request.
After approval, the normal school was set up in some rooms of the St. Joseph School, on Montcalm Street. This was in July 1959.
